After removing a lot of the weight from the front end of the car, we disconnected the vacuum hoses, A/C, and electrical lines in the engine compartment. The rear bumper cover and bumper removal was next on the agenda. As with the front, most of the bolts holding the rear bumper cover broke off as we tried to loosen them. The last on wasn't coming, so we had to hacksaw that one off from the top. As you can see in the photograph, there is a decent amount of rust present, but its not too bad on the structural parts.

Next we attacked the body mounts. There are four per side. The body mount bolts are encased in rubber, and they tent to hold moisture, so after 20 years, it is likely that they are fairly rusted apart. Our project car was no different. The rear two body mount bolts broke off while trying to remove them. Again, this is really a blessing. The two bolts in the compartment in front of the rear wheels had to be cut out with a torch. The one in the driver side kick panel also had to be cut out. The remaining three broke off when trying to loosen them as well. You can see how badly rusted away the bolts were.
