We allowed the etching solution to dry, then spent a couple of hours wiping down the metal. After the metal was cleaned, we were ready to paint the frame and associated parts.

We decided on painting the frame with PPG's DP90. It is a two part epoxy primer. This product can be brushed or sprayed. We decided to brush most of the parts that wouldn't be seen. There is less of a mess created that way (or so we thought). The DP90 does not fill in the rust holes to make a clean, smooth surface. To fill those in, you'd have to purchase a product to put down on top of the DP90 for a smooth finish. We decided to stick with the DP90 only.

We sprayed the DP90 on the frame with a 5 hp compressor and a paint sprayer. We used proper respiratory protection during the process, as this DP90 is nasty stuff, you don't want in your lungs. I think the frame turned out rather well, especially considering it was the first time I ever used a paint gun (Chris).

We completed all of the painting on the frame with the exception of inside the frame. in the next couple of days, we'll be painting the inside of the frame with the use of a 3M 4 foot long flexible spray tip that will slide down into the frame.
