Because our frame was so rusty, we decided against sandblasting. Sandblasting will remove a lot of metal in the process and we don't want to weaken our frame any more. We decided to alkali dip the frame. This process consists of placing the frame in a vat of solution for weeks. Then, the metal is sprayed down and put into a de-rusting tank. It basically does the reverse process of electro plating. Everything is repelled from the metal. This process does not destroy ANY of the metal, and even plastic is not harmed. Acid is NOT used. It is a very basic (alkali) solution. Seeing is believing. Do you remember our rusty frame? Well here it is today, thanks to Restoration depot.

Here's an example of a metal car after the process. Restoration depot's process is really the only way to go!

Here is a close-up of our frame. You may notice it is a little bit chalky looking. That is a residue from the tank. This week, we'll be "ospho-ing" the metal to prep it for primer and paint. Meanwhile, the suspension parts will be dropped off over at Vansteel.
