March 19, 2000. Six days later, (most of that time waiting on the heads to be done), and with the help of digital images taken by Steve of his stock Pace Car, the engine is mostly back together, including my rebuilt carb, and bolts are torqued. Yes, I know the engine compartment looks like hell now next to the nice new motor. So, I guess I better clean the parts next to it. Ah, the frame looks poor next to it too, so I better.... (Didn't I mention something about perfection?).
April 2, 2000. A bunch of late nights and eating dinner after 10 p.m. I fired the motor up, and it ran OK, but would not idle. Did I mess something up? Did the carb rebuild get screwed up? Uh, no, bonehead, ya have to connect ALL the vacuum lines. After connecting ALL of them, the engine runs smooth, and sounds great, even without timing it. I just adjusted it by ear for now. The body removal will be next.
April 13, 2000. The Pace Car sees the light of day again. I needed to clean out the garage floor. Piles of dirt, grime and fluids everywhere.
