I made some mistakes, and learned some things from the experts during the "Pace Car Project". This will help you with your project as well.

GENERAL

1. ALWAYS use ziploc bags and write on the bag with a sharpie, what parts you have put inside. Don't fool yourself into thinking you'll remember, you won't.

2. Buy fender covers. You will probably damage your paint otherwise.

3. If you are doing a big project like a frame-off, buy yourself a digital camera and take pictures of what you disassemble. 4. Remember that if you are replacing your front spring, they only go in ONE way. They have to be turned until the end of the spring meets the stop in the lower A-frame. Otherwise, your vette will sit higher on one side. It is a nightmare to fix this after you have everything back together!

SAVING YOU AGGRAVATION

1. If you are even considering replacing your oil pan gasket because of a leak, DO IT! Buy a Fel-Pro one piece rubber oil pan gasket for $25. They come with new bolts and 4 snap up plastic bolts. Fel-pro has made changing oil pan gaskets a job you will be glad you did!

SAVING YOU MONEY

1. If your seatbelts are in bad shape, you have a couple choices. You could get non-stock replacements which may not even match your interior for a few hundred dollar. You could get a set of stock replacements for about $900. Or, do like I did and send them to Ssnake-Oyl. They rechromed mine, cleaned the retractors, and re-webbed them for $180.

2. My 78 had a 2 into 1 into 2 exhaust on it when I bought it. It was badly rusted and needed to be replaced. I found that the original 2-1-2 kit with mufflers and all the pipe from the manifolds back was about $400 (no catalytics). I found true dual exhaust with 2 1/2" pipe for $270 from corvette world. What a deal! Sounds awesome!

3. Rebuilding your suspension? The ultimate source of all corvette suspensions is Vette Brakes and Products in St. Petersburg, FL, so order from the source.
