I have made the decision to sell my 1991 ZR-1 Resto-Mod. This vehicle has undergone a complete restoration over a period of six years as part of my retirement project.
Famous quad-Cam LT5 engine Engineered by Lotus Racing.
The car is well-known within the ZR-1 community; references include Pete Polasidis, Marc Haibeck, and Jeff DeBuhr, who are familiar with its condition.Comprehensive documentation is available, including photographs, lists of replaced parts, receipts, and other pertinent records. The National Corvette Museum (NCM) Insurance has valued the car at $45,000.
Located in the western suburbs of Chicago, close to Marc Haibeck, the car has recently undergone maintenance, including engine and transmission fluid changes, and is ready for summer usage. This vehicle is best suited for an enthusiast who appreciates both cosmetic and mechanical restorations along with significant performance upgrades. It is not intended for someone seeking a low-mileage showpiece or a high-mileage driver’s vehicle since it requires careful handling due to its power.
Always stored indoors in a heated garage.
I upgraded Shelby Series 1 wheels with custom center caps & TOYO Proxes R888R 335/30ZR18 102Y performance extra-wide rear tires. Despite its performance, the car remains efficient for cruising but less so under continuous aggressive driving.
The car is adult owned and driven with an occasional spirited driving session. The sound produced by the Haibeck 500, Callaway cams, and B&B 3" exhaust system is remarkable, enhancing the car's appeal. It is very drivable, allowing smooth acceleration from idle without hesitation.
Present HP calculated at 530.
This vehicle was built with car shows in mind and provides an exhilarating driving experience. It is visually striking, reliable, and consistently attracts attention. I hope to find a buyer who will appreciate and care for it. The asking price is $40,000, reflecting the extensive investment and effort put into its restoration.
Paint and exterior
Car was repainted by previous owner. In 2014 it underwent a complete tear-down paint job in the original color at a cost of $9,000.
3M Tinted windows, 35% sides, 20% rear.
Upholstery and interior
Entire interior has been replaced during restoration. No short cuts, no cheap junk. Custom 2-tone leather seat covers, new padding, everything. I was able to find a NOS dash pad! Just try to find one of those.
Stereo is an Alpine 500CDE136B, Amp is Kenwood X700-5. Tho I never use it, I love the sound of the car. Donnelly RV mirror, lighted, compass, temp, etc.
New lighted Sun Visors. Custom MOMO steering wheel & pedals.

All restoration work has been done in the last 4,000 miles.
